The BasicsWhen a power generator, such as a solar panel or wind turbine, gathers energy from it's source - sun and wind - it produces electrons that, when harnessed or conducted, create electricity (electricity is the flow of electrons). The electricity is stored in batteries, which are DC or direct current, sources of power. That power is then sent to an inverter that converts the electrical current to AC or alternating current.
